BREAST AUGMENTATION. BREAST IMPLANTS.
Breast augmentation or breast enlargement with silicone implants or saline implants is one of the most commonly performed cosmetic breast surgery procedure that provides a wonderful transformation in your overall body image and self confidence. At Mansfield Cosmetic Surgery Center, Dr. Michael Thornton offers his clients either saline breast implants or silicone breast implants. Breast augmentation with saline implants is intended for female clients who are at least 18 years old.   However, women who choose breast augmentation with silicone implants must be at least 22 years old or require major breast reconstruction due to congenital defects.
During your consultation, decisions about the type of breast implant—being either saline breast implants or silicone gel implants, placement of the breast implant above or below your muscle, and the location of the incision will be thoroughly discussed based upon your body type and personal preferences.

BREAST LIFT. MASTOPEXY.
A breast lift or mastopexy repositions and lifts sagging breasts, due to a condition known as breast ptosis which occurs when flaccid and loose breast skin with poor elasticity is unable to support the weight of the breast, usually from the effects of pregnancy and weight fluctuations. During your private consultation your degree of breast ptosis will be carefully analyzed and classified and you will collectively share in the decision making process about your personal needs, desires, and expectations. A breast lift involves the placement of scars on the breast skin but Dr. Michael Thornton provides every effort to minimize their size and to make the scars as inconspicuous as possible.

BREAST REDUCTION
A breast reduction or reduction mammaplasty reduces the overall size of your breasts. The most common reasons our clients seek breast reduction are due to chronic neck pain, back and shoulder pain, shoulder notching from tight bra straps, irritation of the breast skin, and difficulty in finding appropriate fitting tops and blouses. Dr. Michael Thornton performs breast reductions using an innovative technique called vertical mammaplasty, which provides the breast with a more natural, attractive and longer lasting shape with minimal scarring, as compared with former techniques of breast reduction.

MALE BREAST REDUCTION. GYNECOMASTIA.
Gynecomastia is a condition whereby males develop excess breast tissue that may or may not be painful. Gynecomastia usually begins in males during puberty with the development of small and painful breast buds, but in the majority of cases, this condition is self-limited and usually goes away. However, in some male patients, the excess breast tissue will persist and may cause longstanding physical and phychological problems. Gynecomastia is commonly treated using liposuction and liposculpting of the chest wall overlying the pectoralis muscle. However, some clients may require direct excision of the fibrous breast buds and/or removal of excess skin to provide the best aesthetic result.
