At Mansfield Cosmetic Surgery Center, Dr. Michael Thornton has extensive surgical experience in liposuction, body contouring, and fat transfer. By combining all three of these surgical techniques, Dr. Thornton performs buttock augmentation using an advanced ‘two-in-one’ surgical procedure, called the Brazilian Butt Lift.
A Brazilian Buttock Lift requires three separate steps: 1) Your own fat is removed through standard liposuction techniques from your abdomen, flanks and back leaving you with a narrowed waistline. 2) The fat cells are cleaned and processed. 3) The fat cells are finally transferred to your buttock region, thus providing more posterior projection and fullness. The transfer of your own fat cells into your buttock is artistically performed layer by layer, first starting deep within the muscle and slowly becoming more superficial. This ‘two-in-one’ procedure—liposuction plus fat transfer—results in rounder, fuller, and firmer buttocks along with a slimmer waistline, thus restoring your waist-to-hip ratio to more feminine proportions.
The iconic term “hourglass” figure or referring to the ideal female body form as having measurements (36-24-36) invokes images of a youthful, attractive, and sexually enticing woman in our modern day society. This depiction of the ideal female body form is based on important biological and hormonal factors. A widely used technique that reliably measures the attractiveness of the female figure is the waist-to-hip ratio (WHR). The typical range of the waist-to-hip ratio for healthy, attractive, premenopausal women has been shown to be 0.67 to 0.80, with 0.7 being ideal.
The goal of buttock augmentation must approximate the feminine waist-hip-ratio of 0.7 in order to accentuate important anatomical landmarks of the buttock anatomy. Surgeons who understand these proportions and anatomical factors are able to restore their clients with a youthful and more attractive feminine figure.

What can I expect during my consultation?
During your consultation, you will meet privately and exclusively with Dr. Michael Thornton where you will collectively share in the decision making process about your personal needs, desires, and expectations. Although well qualified, we choose not use patient coordinators, nurse practitioners, or physicians assistants to perform your consultation. Dr. Thornton will complete a thorough medical history and perform a careful examination to determine if you are a candidate for Brazilian Butt Lift. “The ideal candidate for a Brazilian Butt Lift is a patient with a boxy figure and a flat bottom”, explains Dr. Thornton. Furthermore, the patient MUST have enough excess fat located throughout their abdomen, flanks, and lower back regions to perform an adequate fat harvest, otherwise, there will not be enough fat to transfer into the buttock region. There will be a minimal office charge for a consultation for a Brazilian Butt Lift procedure.
We do NOT perform “buttock injections”!!
Dr. Michael Thornton does NOT perform “buttock injections” for safety concerns. Liquid silicone or other black-market chemical injections into the buttocks is considered illegal, immoral and may cause serious injury or death. Beware of untrained individuals performing or marketing such negligent techniques.
Will my insurance pay for my procedure?
Unfortunately, insurance will NOT cover the fees associated with the Brazilian Butt Lift procedure, as this procedure is purely an aesthetic procedure designed for cosmetic enhancement of your buttocks only.
Where will my surgery take place?
All Brazilian Buttock Lift procedures are performed at Baylor Surgicare at Mansfield, a AAAHC certified out-patient surgery center, located in Mansfield, Texas. On average, the procedure will take 3 – 5 hours to complete, depending upon the complexity of the case and the areas and amount of liposuction that will be needed. Furthermore, all Brazilian Butt Lift procedures are performed using general anesthesia as provided by board-certified anesthesiologists. We do not perform or believe in performing ‘awake’ Brazilian Butt Lift.
