The goal of a breast lift or mastopexy at Mansfield Cosmetic Surgery Center is to reposition or “lift” sagging breasts, due to the effects of pregnancy, breast-feeding, or weight loss. These end results cause the breasts to temporarily enlarge and stretch out the breast skin and impairing its ability to support the underlying breast tissue.

Flaccid breast skin with loss of elasticity is unable to support the weight of the breast. This condition is termed breast ptosis and can be classified as either first-degree, second-degree, third-degree, or pseudoptosis.

Incisions for this procedure are placed around the dark skin of your areola and/or along the underside breast crease. However, Dr. Michael Thornton provides every effort to minimize the size of your scars and to make them as inconspicuous as possible. During the breast lift procedure the nipple-areola complex is elevated to a new position and the excess skin is removed, thus restoring your breasts to a more youthful appearance, with more fullness and projection.

Many of our patients choose to have a combination procedure consisting of breast lift with breast augmentation in order to achieve the most desirable effect during a single operation.

What can I expect during my consultation?

During your consultation, you will meet privately and exclusively with Dr. Michael Thornton where you will collectively share in the decision making process about your personal needs, desires, and expectations, and your degree of breast ptosis will be carefully analyzed.  Although well qualified, we choose not use patient coordinators, nurse practitioners, or physicians assistants to perform your consultation.

Consultations for breast lift mastopexy and breast lift with augmentation are complimentary and we have performed breast lift mastopexy on clients from across the DFW metroplex including, Mansfield, Fort Worth, Arlington, Dallas, Kennedale, Grand Prairie, Burleson, Corsicana, Ennis, Midlothian, Red Oak, Waxahachie, Corsicana, Duncanville, DeSoto and Plano.

Where will my surgery take place?

All mastopexy procedures and breast lift with augmentation procedures are performed at Baylor Surgicare at Mansfield, a AAAHC certified out-patient surgery center, located in Mansfield, Texas. On average, the procedure will take 3-4 hours to complete, depending upon the complexity of the case. Furthermore, all procedures are performed using general anesthesia as provided by board-certified anesthesiologists.  We do not perform or believe in performing ‘awake’ breast surgery procedures.
